A leading US bank, operating across mutual savings and private banking, was trying to make decisions without a single, reliable place to look. There was no centralized data repository for the bank’s different business users, and without one, relationship structures across different data entities simply didn’t exist in any usable form. That gap forced analysts into a familiar but exhausting workaround: building their own reports manually in MS Access or MS Excel, one spreadsheet at a time. The result was an absence of automated, standardized business insights for the business leaders and SMEs who needed them most, leaving the bank’s decision-makers working from fragmented, manually assembled data rather than a trusted, unified view.
Ascendion developed a customer 360 data solution designed to derive insights that are both reliable and efficient, built on an ODS layer in SQL Server with SSIS as the ETL tool and Power BI for consumption.
A reporting data layer was built to give report writers an easy way to access data across entities, rather than hunting through disconnected sources. Ascendion then developed automated dashboards using Power BI, representing identified KPIs across Core Banking, Insurance, Wealth, and Mortgage, and applied Performance, UI, and Accessibility best practices, using AVA IAF, to bring the Executive Dashboard up to the standard business leaders actually needed.
